Being in a Band is...

Hey dudes and dudettes!!

Someone sent me an email message on MySpace and asked what it was like to be in a band and write songs. So I wrote her this response, and I wanted everyone to be able to read this to really try to get a glimpse of what it's like for us and what our purpose is in being in a band.

"Really, really hard. It's a super cut throat line of work in the entertainment business. Never know if the shows are going to continue or if people are going to accept your music and how iTunes, Napster, or Rhapsody sales are going to be. You're putting your work out for everyone to judge and praying that the majority enjoy it and can relate to the lyrics or like the melody or beat. There's is a TON a work that no one will every see behind the scenes and that you will never be acknowledged for and plenty of sleepless nights working on being prepared and ready for whatever comes. It's really, really hard.
But when your goal is bigger than yourself to spread the love of God around to people who may have never experienced it... then you just have to trust that God knows exactly what He's doing with you and your band, your work, your life, your everything. You have to trust that no matter what, God is going to take care of you and you're going to go where you need to go. For us, it's still extremely difficult and scary, but we just have to rest and rely on God to give us opportunities to share like this opportunity talking to you right now. But it's tons of really hard work."

Exciting Crap

Two things:

1) Looked at CRW's chart for last week! Skyline Circle is now in ranking with bands like The Fray, Toby Mac, Fee & Abby Road!!

Well, it turns out that our radio promotions is not just the lower 48 states of the U.S. No sir. It has been brought to our attention that we are receiving and will be receiving radio play in

and... Alaska. Which is a part of the US, but it's so far away. lol

Anywho, we're excited to see what God is going to do with us, and we didn't even know that we could be sending a message to other nations. This is definitely awesome. Thanks for stopping by dudes and dudettes!

Massive String of Unfortunate Events.

As some of you have heard, we were planning a small six-week Midwest tour. This tour was to stretch from September 18^th through October 30^th and range throughout OK, TX, AR, KS, and MO. We even had the dates for the September shows up on our MySpace because they were said to have been confirmed minus a few venues for sure.

For the past two weeks we’ve been trying to get a hold of our booking agent for contact information to set up arrival times, confirm addresses, and send fliers for the show to promote prior to the concert dates. With all the messages we sent in all forms, we got zero responses. This began to worry us because the show dates are coming up fast. Still no responses.

We went on Google on our own and searched as many phone numbers and email addresses of the concert venues as we could to establish important information, only to learn that the people working those venues had never heard of us and knew nothing about any concerts coming up. Apparently everything that was sent to us was fabricated 100%.

The dates, all except one that we set up ourselves, are going to be taken down, and we wanted everyone to know that we didn’t cancel those shows if you were going to drive out to make it. They just don’t exist. Unfortunately, this entire scam and ridiculous situation was entirely out of our control and we apologize. Whatever God has planned, we will find out and we are currently searching different options through contacts we made in Nashville.

Outside of the tour, the CDs will still be released, but on the 25^th of September, and CRW will still be getting us radio play throughout the lower 48 states. With God anything is possible, and this is just a time for us to persevere and have patience on the ultimate plan that God has intended for us. Either way, it’s all about Him, music or no music, and we love you all. Thanks for your time, and God Bless.

Day 2...FIN!

We just finished day two in the studio. We have recorded nine of the ten songs and we still have another full day with the piano. The quality of this production is top notch and we are all really excited about it. This whole process has been a tremendous blessing.

Tomorrow we are going to re-record "Road Trip" and solidify some tracks on it.
After we get done that just leaves Silent War and tracking background vocals for all the songs.

New Material at Oakwood Show

Had a great show last night at Oakwood Christian Church!! It was a blast. It was the first show we've played where we've been able to take the new arrangements and new material we'e been working on for the Debut Album!! Our producer would have been quite proud, because the crowd LOVED it and it was a blast!! We're all really excited about how it turned out!!

Now we're less than a week away from heading toward Nashville to record Merry-Go-Round (SC's Debut!!) So this week will be locking down tempos for all the songs that will be on the CD for the click tracks in the recordings. This is getting intense!! lol IT's getting CLOSERRRR

God's Hands

Here's our situation. We have talked with our producer, and he has given us our estimate of covering all costs for everything we'll need to pay for this summer. I.E. (paying mixing engineers, paying mastering engineers, renting the professional studio space in Nashville, production, distribution, artwork, shipping, flights and hotels) All this and everything else that comes our way is going to be 34K.
I know that sounds like a ton of money, and it truly is when applied to a small group of 20 year-olds, but here is the reason I titled this "God's Hands".
We have to raise this money through our Partnership/Sponsorship Program (website http://www.pdpsupport.com/skyline/ and physical brochures) in order for any of this to possibly be accomplished.
There are lots of benefits to helping us out, also. Check out the site above to read more about what you can receive and achieve through your giving.
We've been on our own for over a year and God has literally provided EVERYTHING we've needed to survive in this business. Even if it was the minimum, He still provided it. So I look at it this way. Whatever we are able to raise through your help in this Program, is going to be enough to accomplish whatever God has planned for us. But we can't be shy about this either. We really do need your help. Some business owners have made donations on their own. Some small families have given smaller one-time donations. Some churches have banded together to have us play a concert, and then have given us a collected love offering from the entire church at the end as their donation. Whatever you feel God leading you to do in this situation is enough.
This money is going to help us take our message and spread it outside of our local area and reach ears across the country and even across nations through radio play and digital media. We truly cannot do this alone anymore. So any help from our listeners, friends, and families will be amazing and an answer to prayer, as well as spreading our music and discussing this opportunity with others who are unfamiliar with us.

Talihina drive

The Talimena Scenic Byway is well known for it's scenic beauty. It's a 55-mile route that bridges the distance between Mena, Ark. and Talihina, Ok.

We will be heading to Talihina Ok tomorrow for a youth retreat show. We are going to play a 12 song set and hopefully share our hearts with the kids there. We are excited to start playing again!

Bands with a Mission!

Hey Everyone!
We will be showcasing our music in Nashville Tennessee on May 25 for 3 industry professionals. We know something will come of this,even if it is just a contact, all the way up to the possibility of a record deal.

Back into the swing-o-things...

So we are starting to get ready for a tour. That means lots of calling people, Practicing, more calling people, and oh ya Nathan and I quitting our jobs. Actually I am going to be working half days starting Jan. 15, in order to get ready for the tour. Nathan is really quitting though. He will be doing the same...calling, calling, practicing, and more calling. I am so grateful that God has brought us even this far. All we have to do is trust Him and submit to His will and great things will come your way. Thanks for reading my randoms thoughts.
